J. Lamar is a 40 year old award-winning American freelance photographer, film maker and educator. The son of a veteran war journalist/photographer, Jay has been involved in photography from a very young age. First working with within the film medium, and then moving into the forefront of digital composition and post-production techniques, Jay has over 30 years honing his artistic perspective.
Jay's career began to take off when he was first noticed for his unique creative style in working and filming culinary projects in the early 90's in Miami, Florida. Working with elite American and European chefs, Jay's reputation for top menu design and aesthetics brought him into the forefront of the new genre of food styling and photography, in motion pictures, cookbooks, magazines, and print across the globe.
In 2002 Jay opened Bop Nouveau Food studio and continued his pursuit of art and styling. Approached by clients to pursue lifestyle photography, Jay took on projects that would pull him into arts and entertainment, the world of music videos, sports, family, event photography.
In 2010 Jay expanded his Bop Nouveau Food Studio in JlamarCreative, covering all genres of photography. As a full freelance photographer, Jay shoots projects across the country, and travels 45 weeks out of the year.
